A Look Into The New James Bond Film “Spectre”

No film franchise has matched the longevity nor the number of installments that James Bond has enjoyed. The twenty-fourth installment comes out in November of 2015. Keep reading to catch a look into the new James Bond film “Spectre.”

Fans of the previous installment “Skyfall” will be happy to know that director Sam Mendes is back in the directorial chair for the newest chapter in the Bond saga. Actor Daniel Craig reprises the Bond role for his fourth going, and Ralph Fiennes returns as M after assuming that role from Judi Dench. Early marketing of the movie indicates that as M, he must defend the spy agency from shutdown that some politicians in London are seeking.

Other cast for “Spectre” start with Christoph Waltz, best known for award-winning roles Quentin Tarantino films like “Inglourious Bastards” and “Django Unchained.” Dave Bautista of WWE and “Guardians of the Galaxy” fame plays a role within the SPECTRE organization. Perhaps the best news of all is that Naomie Harris returns as Eve Moneypenny.

Two interesting casting notes for “Spectre” include Monica Bellucci and Jesper Christensen. Age 50 at the time of casting and filming, Bellucci is the oldest-known “Bond girl” ever included in a franchise film. Christensen reprises a role he had in “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace,” despite filming his character’s death. The scene was edited out of the final cut, enabling him to return.

Little is known about the plot or story of “Spectre,” except that the organization shows back up in the franchise for the first time in decades. How long it has been is open to debate. Officially, the last Bond film to feature the organization was 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever.” However, it was also seen in the non-canon “Never Say Never Again,” Sean Connery’s last Bond film.

“Spectre,” like many Bond films, will see the agent hopping continents, as filming and production are known to have taken place in Morrocco, Mexico and Austria. The film is scheduled for a London premiere and general United Kingdom release on October 26th, 2015, with global distribution soon after on November 6th.

Even with this look into the new James Bond film “Spectre,” until the movie actually comes out, no one can really know if the film will receive critical reception. Hopefully, unlike Commander Bond’s favorite drinks, the movie will leave the franchise fans stirred for more, but not shaken up.
